Ouk Chaktrang (អុកចត្រង្គ) — Khmer Chess

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Ouk Chaktrang is a free game. It is paid for by advertising. This page explains what the game does with information, in plain language.

You can play the whole game — against the computer, puzzles, lessons, and two players on one phone — without signing in and without an account.

What stays on your phone

These never leave your device. They are stored by the app and removed when you uninstall it.

If you sign in with Apple or Google

Signing in is optional, and only needed if you want your profile to follow you to another device. If you do sign in, Google Firebase gives the game an account identifier, and Apple or Google shares your name and email address with that account (with Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email). The game stores your display name, your avatar choice and your record against the account, so it can be restored later. The game never sees or stores your password.

If you play online against other people

Online play sends information through the game's own server so the two phones can see each other's moves. This server runs on Cloudflare.

WhatWhy
A random player identifier created by the appSo the other phone knows which seat is which. It is not your name, your email or your phone.
Your display nameShown to the person you are playing. A copy is kept if someone adds you as a friend.
The moves of the game while it is being playedTo pass each move to the other player.
The result when a game ends — who won, how it ended, how many moves, and whenFor your game history and ratings.
Chat messages you sendPassed to the other players. Messages are filtered for offensive words and deleted after 24 hours.

Blocking and reporting

You can block any player from their player card; the list of people you block stays on your phone. If you report a player, the game sends their name, player identifier and up to their last five chat messages to the developer, who reviews reports and may remove players who break the rules. Reports are kept for moderation for up to 12 months.

Advertising

The game shows a banner advertisement, supplied by Google AdMob. To do this, Google may use your device's advertising identifier and information about ads you were shown. Google's own handling of that information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Where the law requires it, you are asked to choose before any personalised advertising is used, and on iPhone and iPad the system also asks whether the app may track you. You can say no. The game works exactly the same either way — you will still see advertisements, but they will be less specific to you.

You can change these choices later in your device settings, and on iPhone and iPad under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

What the game does not do

Children

The game is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

Removing your information

Uninstalling the app removes everything kept on your phone. If you signed in, you can delete your account and the online profile, friends list and records held against it from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. You can also write to the address below and ask — see how to delete your account.
